This is my Georges Méliès tattoo. Méliès was a French filmmaker from 1896 to 1913. He was ahead of his time and revolutionized filmmaking. He created editing techniques such as stop action, dissolve, and multiple exposure. This moon is from one of his greatest films Le Voyage dans la Lune (A Trip to the Moon) released in 1902 (his 400th film). This film was one of the first to be distributed worldwide and was also one of the first to be duplicated (especially by Edison Films). Because of this Méliès was never really made money off of this film and died broke and forgotten. He is and always will be my favorite filmmaker of the silent era.
